Divided into four chapters to date, each section explores distinct aesthetic registers while remaining grounded in the iPad as the primary tool of production. This choice resonates with the legacy of David Hockney’s own experiments in digital mark-making, situating the work in dialogue with questions of medium, technology, and the expanding field of drawing in the 21st century.

Beyond Travis as a living body of work, an expanding narrative whose protagonists evolve alongside their imagined futures.  It remains in progress, with further chapters currently in development.

Conceived for exhibition, the project is envisioned as a hybrid installation, where viewers encounter the drawings both on iPads, emphasising their native medium, and as unique prints, underscoring the tension between digital reproducibility and singular artistic gesture.

Beyond Travis is an ongoing series of digital drawings conceived as an evolving narrative of friendship, intimacy, and imagination. Emerging during the pandemic, the work originated when the artist, immersed in afternoons of play with nine nephews and nieces, entered the shared visual and emotional universe of their childhood.

A pivotal moment came with Fortnite’s live performance by Travis Scott, an event that crystallised the generational imagery, music, and “skins” shaping their collective world.

Rather than documenting these experiences directly, the artist began projecting forward, imagining the trajectories of these young figures once the platform itself had faded and years had passed. The result is a constellation of speculative encounters: friendships, loves, and moments of solitude and contemplation, rendered with tenderness.
